Inspiration is rarely a solitary experience. The moments that change us — that shift our sense of what is possible, that make us feel genuinely alive — almost always involve another person. A conversation that goes somewhere unexpected. An encounter that leaves you different than it found you. A community that reflects back something you didn’t know you were carrying.
IU is, at its core, a social project. The science, the quests, the experiments — all of it is animated by a belief that inspiration is not just a private inner state but something that flows between people, that can be cultivated in community, that grows when it is shared rather than hoarded.
“Find the others.”
That phrase — deceptively simple, deeply true — is perhaps the most practical piece of advice for anyone who has felt the particular loneliness of caring about something that the people immediately around them do not. The others exist. They are looking for you too. The question is where to find them.
How to Get Involved
There are several ways to connect with the IU community, depending on what you are looking for. If you want conversation and exchange, the community platforms are the place to start. If you want to go deeper into the ideas, the resources — writing, video, open-source work — are where the thinking is happening in public. If you want to contribute directly to the research or the experiments, there is a path for that too. And if the mission resonates deeply enough that you want to help sustain it, the Fellowship is where that conversation begins.
Whatever draws you here — curiosity, resonance, a specific quest, or simply the feeling that something important is being explored — you are welcome. The only requirement is that you take inspiration seriously.
